Tradesmen International is currently seeking an experienced Fitter / Welder to work full time 1st shift in the Bangor, MI area. The job is long term with excellent benefits. Pay starts between $19-$20 with a review/raise within the first 6 months.

Job Summary:

Lay out and fabricate complex metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames using knowledge of advance welding techniques.




  • Demonstrate an advanced amount of knowledge, attitude, skills and habits required to perform proceduralized tasks under general supervision and complex, and complex tasks involving the use of theoretical knowledge with little to no supervision.

  • Demonstrate a higher level of skill and dexterity for welding processes of metal.

  • Must be able to perform all functions of the basic welder classification.

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.

  • Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as TIG, GTAW, MIG or GMAW, FAW, SMAW, OAW, and resistance welding.

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment when necessary.

  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fills holes as needed

  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions

  • Set up weld machine, and select the appropriate fixture and identifying the proper weld schedule.

  • Setup equipment and prepare surfaces to be welded and weld parts as required.

  • Identify welding problems to reduce quality errors.

  • Position and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jig or fixture.

  • Tack accessories to main structures as needed.

  • Use and Read tape measures down to 16th of an inch.

  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

  • Train novice welders as needed.

  • Keep work area clean, neat and orderly.

  • Perform autonomous maintenance on machines when applicable.

  • May perform additional cross-functional duties as assigned by the department supervisor.

  • Must have prompt and regular attendance.

  • Experience with Overhead crane would be helpful
