Reporting directly to the Controller, the Payroll Director will manage all aspects of the Payroll Department includingprocessing, reporting and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Lead and develop a high performing cohesive team in a rapidly changing environment to deliver high quality service for our valued employees.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate payment of wages including proper deductions for benefits and taxes.

  • Ensure that processes are efficient, policies are adhered to and internal controls are properly designed and functioning.

  • Ensure payroll and related tax filings are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local wage and hour laws and current tax regulations.

  • Manage the planning and implementation of new/revised payroll procedures (new jurisdictions, different taxation structures, varying labor standards, changes in Company policies, new pay items, upgrades in software systems).

  • Develop an ongoing strategy and action plans for the payroll function and related services.

  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure that service levels are realized, criteria for metric reporting and utilization are established, and competitive opportunities are explored.

  • Develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships and partnerships with business leaders throughout the organization.

  • Identify business issues related to payroll processes and services and develop plans to maximize opportunities and minimize risks.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field. Minimum 15 years of payroll experience including 5 years of management experience.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax laws as they relate to payroll and benefits.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, produce results and follow through on commitments to service.

  • Requires tolerance for ambiguity, a customer service/continuous improvement mind-set, well developed presentation skills, and high impact influence skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including proactive partnering in a large, complex organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service approach to problem solving.

  • Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with personal information, compensation and benefit information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
