Along with being skilled in your trade, working in the yachting industry also has requirements that will be considered.
All personnel must be presentable and professional. No ripped or torn jeans, shirts (preferably collared) must also be clean and presentable. All employees must maintain a professional can do attitude while shipboard, no exceptions. All employees must exhibit the highest level of craftsmanship at all times with all completed work tasks. Project completion must meet deadlines while meeting all requirements of professionalism and craftsmanship.
Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints: Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness.
Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
Threads pipe, using pipe threading machine.
Bends pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
Reading – Has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and understand very complex material (technical reports, equipment specifications)
Mathematical – Basic math and metric system knowledge is required
Writing – required writing to explain or describe information
Planning/Organizing – Performs activities planned by others.
Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical ship repair.
