Drywall Tapers, Hangers, Finishers!
Tradesmen is seeking experienced Drywall Tapers, Hangers and Finishers throughout the Boise area. Pay depends on experience.
$ 14-$21/ hr DOE
As a drywall hanger you will be responsible for installing wallboards to ceilings or to interior walls of buildings and applying plaster. Smooth out imperfections with trowels and shackle. Apply coats of compound after panels are mounted to walls or ceiling. As a drywall finisher you will be responsible for sealing joints between plasterboard or other wallboard to prepare wall surface for painting or papering.
Apply drywall to walls or ceilings.
Fasten drywall panels to the inside framework of building.
Prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints.
Smooth out imperfections.
Work with ceiling tile installers to build walls.
Read blueprints and designs.
Measure, cut, fit, and fasten panels.
Prepare panels by sawing, drilling, or cutting holes in panels for electrical outlets, air-conditioning units, and plumbing.
Screw panels to wood or metal framework.
Use a lift to place ceiling panels.
Fill joints in-between panels with spackle.
Use trowels to spread spackle.
Press paper tape into compound.
Smooth away excess material.
Cover nail and screw depressions with spackle.
Apply second and third coats of compound.
Sand areas after each coast.
Remove extra compound after surfaces have been covered sufficiently.
Spread sealing compound between boards or panels or over cracks, holes, nail heads, or screw heads, using trowels, broadknives, or spatulas.
Press paper tape over joints to embed tape into sealing compound and to seal joints.
Mix sealing compounds by hand or with portable electric mixers.
Spread and smooth cementing material over tape, using trowels or floating machines to blend joints with wall surfaces.
Seal joints between plasterboard or other wallboard to prepare wall surfaces for painting or papering.
Sand or patch nicks or cracks in plasterboard or wallboard.
Use mechanical applicators that spread compounds and embed tape in one operation.
Apply additional coats to fill in holes and make surfaces smooth.
Install metal molding at wall corners to secure wallboard.
Sand rough spots of dried cement between applications of compounds.
Countersink nails or screws below surfaces of walls before applying sealing compounds, using hammers or screwdrivers.
Select the correct sealing compound or tape.
Apply texturizing compounds or primers to walls or ceilings before final finishing, using trowels, brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
Check adhesives to ensure that they will work and will remain durable.
